There is some thought that RFID technology could be used in the fight against the spread of bird flu, which has already threatened people in Southeast Asia with fears it could become a pandemic. The idea is to track the movement of livestock or people susceptible to an outbreak during the course of their normal everyday activities. The data is then transmitted to a database for further analysis. Health officials could then leverage the data to put a stop to the spread of the disease.
